Complete Denture
Denture (also known as False Teeth) are prosthetic devices constructed to replace missing teeth, they are supported by surrounding soft and hard tissue of oral cavity. There are many denture designs such as Removable Denture, Fixed Denture (Implant Supported) Custom Denture, and Immediate Denture Etc.
Advantages:
- Denture can help patients through mastication/chewing ability is improved by replacing edentulous areas with denture teeth.
- Aesthetics - Because of presence of teeth a natural appearance of face and a support for lips and cheeks and it corrects the collapsed appearance that results from loss of teeth and so it boost up your confidence in the ability to interact socially.
- Pronunciation - Because replacing missing teeth especially anterior, enables patient to speak better.
Complete dentures are worn by patients who are missing all of the teeth in a single arch i.e. - upper or lower or in both arches.
Daily cleaning of dentures is recommended. Plaque and tartar can build up on false teeth, just as they do on natural teeth. Cleaning can be done using chemical or mechanical denture cleaners. Dentures should not be worn continuously, but rather left out of the mouth during sleep. It takes 8-12 weeks for the full process to complete after the removal of teeth.
