Laminates & Veneers

Porcelain veneers are thin pieces of porcelain used to recreate the natural look of teeth, while also providing strength and resilience comparable to natural tooth enamel.

It is often the treatment of choice for those who are looking for slight position alteration, or change in tooth shape, size and color.

Indications

  • Discolored tooth/teeth.
  • Fractured tooth.
  • Minor gaps between teeth.
  • When Tooth position is compromised.
  • Intrinsic stains like tetracycline stains, Flourosis.
  • Enamel hypoplasia.
  • Amelogenesis imperfect.

Porcelain laminate veneers consist of a compilation of several thin ceramic layers which replaces original tooth enamel& an adhesive layer.

To apply a veneer a small amount of enamel has to be removed; usually less than a millimeter this is for the porcelain veneer to fit, creating an ever better appearance like that of the original tooth. Light sensitive resin cement is placed between tooth and veneer and then hardened using a special curing light.

  • Minimal tooth reduction required.

Maintenance of porcelain veneers:

Maintenance is quite simple. Treat them as your original teeth while routine flossing and brushing. Dentist will suggest using non abrasive fluoride paste.

Your dentist will ask you to return to the dental office few days after the veneers are placed, this is to see how your month is reacting to veneer. This appointment is vital for the future oral health.

If you have night grinding or clenching habit dentist will suggest the use of night time bite guard. So that veneers are not damaged.
